UTOPICO opened its doors in June 2022, founded and fully owned by Diar Abdi — born in Aleppo, raised in Madrid, originally from Syrian Kurdistan.
His connection with coffee began in the most unexpected place: as a child, watching his grandmother read the future in the dark grounds of a Turkish coffee cup.
That moment planted something that never left — a lifelong relationship with coffee that would eventually become a vision: a space where culture, community, and specialty coffee come together.
At UTOPICO, we roast our own beans, carefully selecting each origin with intention and respect for the people behind every harvest. Quality, traceability, and direct trade are not just values — they are the foundation of every decision we make.
The heart of the project is family. Diar runs UTOPICO alongside his mother Anam, a chef with over 40 years of experience in Middle Eastern cuisine. Together, they have built something that goes beyond a coffee shop — a space where traditional flavors meet modern creativity.
Beyond espresso, we craft signature drinks rooted in our culture — original recipes that tell stories through taste. Our menu is a celebration of the Arab world, from specialty coffee to homemade food made with the same care as everything else we do.
We are also deeply committed to education. All barista training at UTOPICO is based on SCA standards, ensuring excellence from bean to cup.
